Lesson Objectives: 

 

Objective: In today’s class we will compare the past with the present, related to transportation, education, work and/or health by using the simple past and simple present.  

 

By the end of this class, we will be able to 

  1. Describe a vacation. 

  1. Compare the Past and Present. 

  1. Give biographical information.

Task 1: Let’s remember! - Homework 

 

  1. 1. What did you do in your last Holiday?

  1. 1. Let’s read the next sentences and make them into questions:  

 

I ate salad and chicken.  

 

We danced the whole night. It was funny! 

 

They were at home because of my birthday.  

 

He drove his car to arrive at Centro Cultural Costarricense.  

 

She had to study before the test.  

 

 

 

Task 3: Let’s review the simple past!

Task 4: 

  1. 1. Click HERE. Organize the events that she did. 

  1. 2. Interview with your classmates. Ask these questions:  

 

What did you do this morning?  

Did you study English yesterday?  

Did you go to the gym?  

Did you eat vegetables for lunch today?  

Where did you go yesterday?  

What did you drink this morning? Did you drink coffee or orange juice?  

 

Example 

Ana worked in the morning, so she didn’t go to the gym. She drank coffee and did not eat vegetables for lunch. Yesterday, she worked and went to classes, but she didn’t study English.

Objective: describe a vacation. 

  1. Please complete exercise A, page 162 

  1. Then, choose 3 phrases to create Simple Past sentences. Add their corresponding question.  

For example:  

Take a bus 

I took the bus to arrive at the Centro Cultural Costarricense.

Goal D 

Objective: compare the past and present. 

 

  1. 1. Look at the words. Which things do we usually see in the city? Which don’t we normally see in the city?

  1. 2. Then, try to compare the past and present. You can focus on 1 or 2 topics like: transportation, school, work and free time, food and health, or animals and the environment.

Task 11: Let’s talk!  

  1. 1. Pretend you are with a psychologist.  

  1. 2. Mention 4 events you did (or you did not do).  

  1. 3. Describe your wishes to change them  

  1. 4. Explain your plans to improve your past.  

 

Example: 

  

Last year, I did not study for my project. I did the presentation, but it was not good. I would like to do another project, and I would like to get a better grade. I am going to look for an interesting topic. I am going to prepare myself, and I am going to present a good project.
